DEVELOP THE DRIVER. DEVELOP THE CAR. IMPROVE THE LAP TIME.
DRIVER COACHING & TRACK SUPPORT
Whether you’re looking to take your first steps into circuit driving, chasing your next personal best, or preparing for competitive motorsport, I can help you get more from both yourself and your car.
Through Ben Caisley Racing, I provide driver coaching and vehicle setup support in partnership with JPR Race Workshop, combining on-track driver development with experienced technical support.
The aim is simple: to make you faster, more consistent and more capable — not just at one circuit, but wherever you drive.
DRIVER COACHING
Become a better driver, not just a faster driver.
Driver coaching isn’t about simply telling you where to brake or which line to take.
My approach is centred around developing the underlying skills that make a driver faster and more adaptable. The techniques you learn should remain useful when you arrive at a different circuit, get behind the wheel of a different car, or encounter changing track conditions.
We’ll work on areas such as:
- Braking technique and brake release
- Corner entry and exit
- Racing lines and car positioning
- Throttle application
- Weight transfer and car control
- Carrying speed through corners
- Consistency and repeatability
- Understanding grip and vehicle behaviour
- Building confidence at the limit
- Identifying and correcting individual weaknesses
The objective is to understand why something works, rather than simply memorising what to do at one particular corner.
That knowledge is transferable — and that’s what makes you a better driver.
DRIVER DEVELOPMENT
Build skills that stay with you.
A faster lap time is important, but it shouldn’t be the only measure of progress.
I want drivers to leave a coaching session with a better understanding of their own driving. By identifying where time is being lost and understanding how to correct it, you can start to analyse your own performance rather than relying on someone else to tell you what to change.
Coaching can be tailored to your experience and goals, whether you’re:
NEW TO CIRCUIT DRIVING
Learning the fundamentals, building confidence and understanding how to drive a performance car safely and effectively on track.
AN EXPERIENCED TRACK DRIVER
Looking to find the final tenths, improve consistency or overcome a particular weakness in your driving.
A COMPETITIVE DRIVER
Preparing for racing, testing a new car or looking for a structured approach to improving performance.
CAR SETUP
The driver and the car need to work together.
A good setup isn’t simply the one that produces the fastest theoretical lap.
The car needs to give the driver the confidence and information required to extract its performance.
Working alongside JPR Race Workshop, I can help develop the vehicle setup around the driver, taking into account both objective performance and how the car feels from behind the wheel.
Depending on the car and requirements, this can include working with:
- Suspension setup
- Alignment and geometry
- Damping
- Ride height
- Tyre performance and pressures
- Brake balance
- Handling balance
- Driver feedback
- Data and video analysis
The driver is an essential part of the setup process. Sometimes the fastest solution is a change to the car; sometimes it’s a change to the way the car is being driven.
Understanding the difference is where driver coaching and engineering support work particularly well together.

TRACKSIDE SUPPORT
Spend your time driving — not worrying about the car.
For testing, track days and race events, I can provide driver coaching alongside trackside technical support through our partnership with JPR Race Workshop.
Before going on track, we’ll establish clear objectives for the session. After each run, we’ll assess the driver’s performance, the behaviour of the car and any available data before deciding what to work on next.
This creates a continuous process:
DRIVE → ANALYSE → ADJUST → DRIVE AGAIN
Rather than making changes without understanding their effect, every session has a purpose.
DATA & VIDEO ANALYSIS
Modern motorsport provides an enormous amount of information about both the driver and the car.
Where data or video is available, I can use it alongside driver feedback to identify where lap time is being gained or lost.
This allows us to look beyond the overall lap time and understand exactly what is happening — whether that’s braking too early, releasing the brake incorrectly, carrying insufficient speed into a corner, getting back to the throttle too late or struggling to exploit the available grip.
The aim is to turn data into something useful for the driver, rather than simply producing numbers and graphs.
TESTING & SHAKEDOWN DAYS
Testing is about making the most of your available track time.
Whether you’re preparing a new car, returning to the circuit after a rebuild or developing an existing setup, having a structured plan can make a significant difference.
I can work with you and the JPR Race Workshop team to establish priorities for the day, evaluate the car and driver, and make informed changes throughout the test.
The goal is to finish the day with a clearer understanding of both where the car is and where the driver needs to go next.
RACE WEEKEND SUPPORT
For competitive drivers and teams, I am available for race weekend engagements where driver development and performance support are required.
This can include:
- Driver preparation
- On-track coaching
- Session debriefs
- Data and video review
- Driver feedback
- Setup development
- Performance analysis
- Testing and qualifying preparation
The level of involvement can be tailored around the requirements of the driver, car and team.
FASTER LAPS ARE THE RESULT. BETTER DRIVING IS THE GOAL.
THE GOAL
Every driver and every car is different.
My job is to understand where the performance is being lost, establish why it is happening and create a practical route to improvement.
That might mean changing the way you approach a corner.
It might mean changing the setup of the car.
Often, it’s both.
The skills you develop shouldn’t disappear when you leave the circuit. They should make you a better driver in the next car, at the next circuit and at the next event.
If you’re looking to improve your driving, develop your car or take your circuit performance to the next level, get in touch.
